Visualizing Gainesville

Crime Map - 1.0

The Gainesville Crime Map automatically displays the most recent arrests and incidents as reported by the Gainesville Police Department’s Police to Citizen website. This initial iteration provides an info box when you click on a point, giving you the time, date and address of the incident. Using the map, you can see exactly what’s going on in Gainesville. I’m working on expanding the information provided and I’m always looking for feedback, so leave me a comment! The backend script runs multiple times per day, meaning that information is always current. (NOTE: It appears there’s some issue with Firefox under windows. However, Internet Explorer, FireFox 2 for mac and Safari all work.)

    Great job with this.

It might be helpful to be able to enter an address so you can see where these incidents and arrests are in relation to a location, such as my house. :)
